SwimEx

Our SwimEx Inground Therapy Pool provides the perfect location for aquatic therapy. The hydraulic lift is used to transfer patients in and out of the pool. The water is maintained at 93 degrees. The temperature of the room is maintained at 85 degrees to avoid drafts. The depth of the pool may be adjusted and there is a current generating mechanism which can act either as a resistance, or a facilitation to movement.

The therapeutic benefits of aquatic therapy include:

  • Decreased pain, stiffness, muscle spasm and muscle guarding
  • Improved posture, balance and coordination
  • Enhanced relaxation and freedom of movement for increased muscle tone
  • Increased circulation, range of motion, strength and endurance
  • Better mobility through reduced joint strain
  • Enhanced sensory feedback and body awarenes

Lumbar Extension Machine
The lumbar extension machine is designed to isolate the lumbar paraspinal muscles for strengthening. It is a computer monitored exercise program in which both isometric and dynamic exercise is performed. Machine has a unique counterbalance that allows the foot pounds of resistance to even out throughout the full range of motion. This piece of equipment is a great tool for both testing and strengthening an injured patients back. The lumbar extension machine has the ability to have a weight range from 10 to 400 foot pounds of resistance.
Lumbar Extension (from the manufacturer):
The Lumbar Extension Machine can provide resistance over a full range of isolated lumbar motion (72 degrees), or over a selected limited range. In exercise mode, a compound weight stack provides from 10 to 400 foot pounds in increments of one foot pound. Isometric testing may occur every 3 degrees within the patient’s range of motion. During the test, the software plots a strength curve that allows a comparison of the patient’s strength and range of motion to age and gender matched norms. It also has the ability to detect a lack of reasonable effort by the patient. Various reports can be generated for individual patients and selected patients groups or categories for outcome tracking purposes. Accuracy and reliability of testing is addressed by the machine’s ability to factor out the torque of both torso mass and stored energy. Torso mass is eliminated via an adjustable counterweight. Stored energy (tissue compression and/or joint elasticity) can be assessed and factored out at each angle tested. Dimensions: 61X88X76 Weight: 2,144 lbs

Swiss Ball
The Swiss Ball is an excellent tool used in physical therapy to strengthen the vast majority of the muscles in the human body. Using various size balls one can do trunk stabilization exercises as well as specific exercises geared toward improving balance and proprioception. There are virtually hundreds of different exercises that can be done while using a Swiss Ball.

Fluidotherapy
The fluidotherapy machine is designed to provide heat to the hands and feet. It is a dry heat where hot air is blown through a medium of ground up corn cobs. It is an excellent environment to work on upper extremity injuries where desensitization is necessary. It also is good to use in situations of tendinitis. I have also found it quite useful in treating carpal tunnel syndrome and De Quervain's syndrome.

Upper Extremity UBE
The upper extremity UBE is a great exercise tool to strengthen the upper extremities as well as work on general conditioning and aerobic capacity. It is also an excellent piece of equipment when a patient is unable to use his lower extremities.

MedX Medical Rehabilitation Exercise Equipment
We’ve integrated decades of experience and millions of dollars of independent, university-based research into our selectorized line of equipment. Bio-mechanical precision, engineering excellence, and high-grade components mean that MedX is the most technologically advanced fitness equipment available.

Overhead Press
The overhead press machine Works the muscles of the shoulders neck and upper torso. The advantage of the Medex overhead press machine is that the start position can vary according to the pin selector position on the weight stack. The weight level ranges from 20 to 500 pounds.

Lateral Raise
The lateral raise machine is designed to strengthen the muscles of the shoulder and neck. It specifically Works the deltoids supraspinatus and trapezius muscles. The lateral raise machine has a weight range from 20 pounds to 300 pounds.

Chest Press
The chest press machine is designed to work the anterior trunk muscles. The machine and is ergonomically designed to work these muscles with excellent support for the lower back. The chest press machine has a weight range from 20 pounds to 600 pounds.

Torso Arm
The torso arm of machine is designed to work the large muscles of the torso. Specifically it Works the latissimus dorsi muscle along with the abdominal trunk muscles. The torso arm machine has a weight range from 20 to 500 pounds.

Leg Press
